We wish to express many thanks to the St Andrews Scout Group in Meols for their tireless efforts in raising funds to donate towards The Friends of Meols Park “Sparks In The Park” events during the past 3 years to the selling of hot dogs and drinks to the local community from the Scout building in Mumfords Lane, Meols.
The gesture is very much appreciated and cheques amounting to One Hundred and Fifty pounds were presented to Roy and Rachel on behalf of Friends of Meols Park, by both Cubs and Scouts during their weekly meet at St Andrews Church Hall on Tuesday 4th November 2014.
The Friends of Meols Park are pleased to present their 5th Firework Display On Sunday 3rd November 2013. This year The Firework Display will be set off by our local Social Celebrity Beverley Macca by pressing down our VIP Plunger..

Wirral Council Parks Worker, Kev makes a start on installing our new mosaic featture in the Meols Park Play Area. Kev is shown laying the inner circle segments. The Mosaic was designed and created by our children at workshops held in Meols Pavilion, Great Meols School and St Johns Church.

There has been Andy from OMD, China Crisis, Esther Mcvey MP, Mayor of Wirral and Mayor of Sefton and now it’s Toyah Willcox who took time out to visit, from her Gig at Jack Rabbit Slims in Hoylake on 23rd October 2011 “Toyah said we had done a Fantastic Job in saving the Play Area” Thanks Toyah
There was a real sense of Community spirit at St John’s Church Centre in Meols on the regular Thursday morning Coffee Morning. I went along and with the assistance of Jackie Hall,Rachel and Lynda from our ‘friends’ group and other cheerful volunteers, we spent the morning cutting out and pasting the ‘Wish Tokens on to special collector sheets(10,448 in total). We even had Esther McVey (Our ‘Friends Group’ Chairman) helping out for a couple of hours when she took time off from her campaign to become our local Member of Parliament. Thanks Esther and good luck in your quest and thanks also to all the volunteers in the kitchen … the bacon toasties were lovely…
The ‘Go Green’ Penguin has now got his new home in the Meols Park Play Area. Any ideas about what we should call him ???? The ‘Go Green’ Penguin was displayed in Liverpool’s Williamson Square and made his way across the water to Meols Park Play Area to settle in to his new home.
Go Green – Description: Well-dressed for winter, this penguin’s simple message urges us all to think of the planet. The Artist was Jan ,an accomplished designer and painter. She recently completed a postgraduate certificate in surface pattern design and is currently studying for her MA in Fine Arts in York St John University. ‘Go Green’s’ sponsor was Arriva Buses.
It’s a straightforward message from our penguin friends; go green and help them fight climate change
Our wish to install a MOSAIC feature commemorating Community Pride and Local Heritage in the Park Play Area could come true, with your help….
The Liverpool ECHO is giving away £50,000 to 350 community groups across Merseyside.
The Friends of Meols Park have been successful in being accepted as one of the community groups.
Every penny must go to community groups, clubs, schools and charities across the region and it’s up to YOU how much we get – by saving as many tokens as you can.
Every group registered on our Wish List is guaranteed a share of the money.
The size of our group’s share will depend on the support we receive from Echo readers in the form of tokens collected towards our group. The tokens will be in the Echo from the 15th February for a total of 8 weeks.
The £50,000 cash pot will then be divided by the number of tokens collected – and the bigger our share of tokens, the bigger our slice of cash.
So come on…. get collecting ..please!!!
